This blood orange martini is Royally Good!
The cocktail of the month from October 2018’s gin of the month box pays tribute to the Battle of Bosworth, where Richard III – the namesake of this month’s gin – famously fell to the army of Henry Tudor. The last of the Plantagenet monarchs is said to haunt nearby Leicester, where his skeleton was found after hundreds of years spent under a council carpark. Raise a toast to this much maligned king with a Blood on the Battlefield, designed by Craft Gin Club’s resident Gin Expert!
Blood on the Battlefield
50ml Burleighs Richard III Gin
25ml smooth or freshly-squeezed blood orange juice
15ml sweet (red) vermouth
5ml sugar syrup
Orange peel, to garnish
Combine all of your ingredients in a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake for 20 seconds. Strain into a cut-glass wine glass and serve garnished with orange peel.
