Inspired by the incredible flavours of Purely Plantain Chips, whose delectable Sea Salt edition we included in our May 2021 Gin of the Month box for our members to try, our Master Mixologist, Maria, has come up with three stunning, exciting G&T recipes that you might never have thought to try before.
Each one of these unique, alternative G&T recipes has been cleverly curated to go with each of Purely Plantain Chips’ mouth-watering flavours for you to enjoy in the garden through spring and summer.
To go with their Wild Garlic edition, Maria has put together the unusual yet delicious pairing of fresh rosemary and grapefruit; to go with Purely’s Nice & Spicy edition, Maria has developed a cooling duo in lemon and mint; last but not least, Maria has suggested fruity garnishes that really compliment the delicious saltiness of Purely’s Sea Salt edition.
Spend a night in trying all three to find your favourite combination - they are all delicious!
You may be surprised to find out that the heady flavours of wild garlic, which can be found by brooks and streams across the UK in spring, pair very well with grapefruit and rosemary.
Those delightfully bitter citrus notes of the grapefruit are a perfect counterpart to the savoury, herbaceous rosemary. They are perfect for enjoying with the flavours of gin and tonic water and they are a great compliment to Plurely’s Wild Garlic plantain chips.
50ml gin
150ml tonic water
Rosemary and grapefruit, to garnish
Add gin and tonic in a Copa or highball glass with ice and garnish with rosemary and a grapefruit slice.
As Purely’s Nice & Spice plantain chips are already quite fiery, Maria has gone with some more cooling ingredients for this serve. The lemon is fresh and vibrant while the mint is delightfully aromatic, both complement the juniper and citrus notes of a classic London Dry gin wonderfully.
50ml gin
150ml tonic water
Lemon and mint, to garnish
Combine your gin and tonic in a Copa glass with ice and garnish with a few lemon and mint.
Sea salt pairs incredibly well with really fresh, juicy, ripe tropical fruit such as watermelon, cucumber and mango, making them a delicious snack on a hot day when enjoyed with Purely’s Sea Salt plantain chips. We love adding a slice of watermelon, mango and cucumber to a G&T to make it a really sunny tipple, especially if lime can be added too.
