Any club member will know that we love mixing gin with cider here at Craft Gin Club, especially when the cider in question has that added pizzazz - ever tried mixing gin with Thatchers Cloudy Lemon Cider? If not you need to give it a go (you can find the recipe here).
As you can imagine, we were SO excited to find a gin cocktail recipe from Thatchers that uses the Thatchers Blood Orange Cider that can be found in Craft Gin Club’s May 2022 Gin of the Month box! It’s called a Marmalade G&C and it is the perfect quick-to-make cocktail for spring and summer evenings.
The genius of Thatchers’ Marmalade G&C is that it really allows their trailblazing Blood Orange Cider AND the gin to shine! Its bursting with a lively mix of blood orange and apple tones that work beautifully with the rich juniper of gin.
The sweet-bitter marmalade and fresh rosemary in this serve then add new levels of sweet and savoury complexity, making this gin and cider cocktail truly special.
50ml gin
Thatchers Blood Orange, to top
4tbsp marmalade
4tbsp boiling water
Sprig of rosemary, to garnish
Fresh blood orange, to garnish
In a saucepan, whisk the marmalade, rosemary and boiling water. Gently warm over a low heat and melt into a syrup - allow to cool fully before using. Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Add the syrup and gin, then shake. Strain into an iced glass and top with Thatchers Blood Orange Cider. Add a blood orange wheel and a sprig of rosemary to garnish.
As if this cocktail wasn’t enough, here are three more reasons that Thatchers Blood Orange Cider should be top of your shopping list:
Blood orange is set to be one of the trendiest flavours of summer 2022 and beyond, and leading the charge is Thatchers Blood Orange Cider - it’s a feast for the senses that works oh-so-well with gin!
From its vibrant blood orange colour and effervescent sparkle to its orange blossom aroma and taste of juicy apple mixed with delicious citrus, it’s an exhilarating blend of classic and cutting-edge ciders.
As we get more days of fun in the sun, let’s embrace spontaneity with this summery cider. This 4% ABV drink isn’t just bursting with trendy flavours – it’s also just the thing for full-of-life moments!
Thatchers Blood Orange Cider is extremely portable, meaning you can grab it from the fridge and go, whether you’re headed to a picnic in the park, a gig in the sunshine or a festival with friends. After all, as you find the sound of the summer, you’ll want a drink that turns up the taste.
If you’re looking for an unexpected, alternative mixer for gin this summer, Thatchers Blood Orange is it! While it’s phenomenal on its own, it’s also exceptionally tasty when mixed into a ginny tipple.
