Coconut & Chocolate White Russian: this unbelievably creamy gin and Tia Maria cocktail is completely dairy-free!
Inspired by The Coconut Collaborative’s delicious vegan-friendly Chocolate Little Pots, which we have sent to Craft Gin Club members in their January 2022 Gin of the Month box, we have come up with this stunningly creamy take on a White Russian that’s completely dairy-free and utterly divine.
Yes, the White Russian is traditionally a vodka-based cocktail. However, if you have ever tried our Orange Russian, Salted Caramel Russian or Hazelnut Russian then you will know just how incredible gin can be in this cocktail.
How do you make a dairy-free, vegan-friendly version of a White Russian?
Well, that’s easy! We have swapped out the cream that is normally used for coconut cream, which is a fantastic plant-based alternative to cream from cows.
We have also used a vegan-friendly chocolate sauce. You can buy good vegan-friendly chocolate sauces online but we prefer to make ours using The Coconut Collaborative Chocolate Little Pots. All you have to do is spoon one of the pots out into a bowl over warm water and stir until it’s a sauce consistency (one pot should be enough for two cocktails). It couldn’t be easier!
Both the coconut cream and the chocolate sauce work so well with the rich coffee flavours of Tia Maria, which is a rum-based coffee liqueur, and the deep, complex juniper notes of the gin.
Coconut & Chocolate White Russian
This cocktail is completely dairy-free and vegan-friendly!
50ml gin
20ml Tia Maria
20ml vegan chocolate sauce (made using Chocolate Little Pots as described above)
40ml coconut cream
Add the chocolate sauce, gin, Tia Maria and coconut cream to a rocks glass with ice and stir. Enjoy!
